Music Ministry

“O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!” Psalm 95:1-2

Worship is much more than the singing done on Sunday mornings. Worship is how we live our everyday lives in response to our loving God. We seek to delight and enjoy the goodness of our God by obeying and following His commands. This is how we best love Him (John 14:21). Corporate worship is one very important expression of that love. In our service at WBC, we seek to celebrate and give honor to God through a diverse and eclectic music style in order to best glorify our God and serve our congregation and community. There is something for everyone to enjoy and participate in at WBC! Come join us!

Please email Sidney Baynes at sidney@nc.rr.com with any questions pertaining to the Music Ministry at Wendell Baptist.

Choir

This is the foundational element of the WBC music ministry. All of our other musical elements grow out of our Worship Choir which leads the congregational music every Sunday morning as well as during special services. Open to all attendees and members ages 6th grade and up. Rehearsals are Wednesday from 7:30 – 8:30 PM. We are always looking to expand our choir membership and would love to have you serve with us!

Handbells

This amazing group of “ding-a-lings” (as we affectionately call them) provide music for special seasons such as Easter and Christmas as well as other times throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 5-6 pm, August – May. Currently meeting from 4-5 pm, at the same time as the Kids Choir, through November.

Kid's Choir

The Wendell Baptist Kids’ Choir meets seasonally in the Choir room at 4:00 pm. Our Kids’ always play a huge role in our holiday services during the Christmas season, and we also assemble for “Easter Peeps” during the Easter season. Our children are always enthusiastic about leading the congregation in song, or engaging in skits, motion worship and special music. In addition, our kids help lead during VBS through song and motion worship.

Kids’ Choir is most often made up of Elementary School age singers, but all kids are welcome… Stay tuned for special events and more kids’ music opportunities!

All childcare workers must complete the appropriate background check as require by our Child Protection Policy.

Youth Praise Band

Our youth worship team AKA “True and Just” is the heartbeat of our contemporary worship ministry.  Open to all members of our youth group, this band leads worship for all youth activities and also cycles through our Sunday morning worship team rotation. Since their founding in 2017, True and Just have been instrumental in keeping our church energized and in introducing new worship music to our congregation.

Students will learn vocals, guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, and other instruments as we prepare to lead in worship. No prior skills are needed to participate – just a willingness to learn! Our youth practice on Sunday nights at 5:00 pm in the youth Loft.

Men's Ensemble

The Wendell Baptist Men’s Ensemble affectionately known as “The Back Pew Boys” consists of male singers from our choir and congregation who come together to sing for special events and for worship.  Over the years this group has sung at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium, Mudcats Stadium for the National Anthem, and for many other local church and community events. No experience necessary – just a willingness to hang out with the guys and learn a part!

Adult Worship Team

Our Adult Worship Team consists of vocalists and instrumentalists from our choir and youth team.  Each week this “Praise Team” is dedicated to leading in congregational worship and in providing special music for all occasions.  Some experience is always a plus but NOT a requirement.  We can teach you what you need to know!

This hard-working group of folks meets for practice on Wednesday nights at 8:30 in the sanctuary.  Late night practices are commonplace and diligence outside of practice in learning parts is a must!
